Lola Rosa's AutoBiography
Lola Rosa’s autobiography was about her life during the Japanese colonization. It is consists of all her sufferings. Mrs. Henson burst into the national consciousness in 1992, when she broke half-a-century's silence to talk about her ordeal as a "comfort woman" in a World War II rape camp. She had suffered so much under the Japanese occupation for being a sex slave, thousands of soldiers had used her, she also experienced violence from those who were using her body by hitting when they are not satisfied, she even undergone hunger and sickness. Her example inspired other women to come out with their own stories, belying earlier claims that the Japanese forces did not set up "comfort stations" in the Philippines as they did in Korea, Taiwan and Indonesia.
Henson was raped by a Japanese officer in 1942 near Ft. McKinley, in Rizal province. Her family moved to their hometown of Angeles, Pampanga, where Henson was taken by the Japanese and forced to become a comfort woman – a forced prostitute – to be raped by numerous Japanese soldiers daily. Being a comfort woman for lola Rosa was a nightmare, because she experiences lots of inhuman acts, like, abusing and violating her rights as a woman and as a person. Lola Rosa even planned to escape from her situation but she failed. Despite of these experiences lola Rosa still stayed strong and never lose her hope and faith that someday she will be free from that nightmare-like situation. Lola Rosa's story is one of survival rather than victimhood, she can be called woman of courage because she still stands strong.
With all these being said, I therefore conclude that life was really hard during Japanese occupation, specially the women based on Lola Rosa’s story. These analysis was able to state the ordeals of Lola Rosa being a slave sex, and how she survived her life.
